Town Administrator Paul Dawson presented Selectmen with a timeline to hire a new fire chief at the board’s Tuesday night meeting.

The position will be advertised beginning March 5. The deadline to apply is April 10. From then until May 15 Selectmen will review resumes, check references and conduct interviews.

Dawson said Selectmen should select a new chief by May 19.

“This allows the applicant ample time to provide notice to leave a position,” Dawson said.

A complete job description is still being drafted.
