Thomas Quinlan of Marion was one of several Bishop Stang High School students awarded for their art work through the 2015 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards the Emerging Young Artists Exhibition at UMass Dartmouth.

Quinlan, a junior, received an honorable mention from Scholastic for his comic art piece “ntmtsf.” He participated in the UMass Dartmouth exhibition that ran Jan. 16 to Feb. 7.

The exhibition recognized the merit of high school art students from 20 high school art programs in Massachusetts. The participating schools were invited to be part of the exhibition based on their long-term commitment to art education. The art teachers from these high schools were asked to select artwork in any media from five of their best students to be included in the group exhibition.

Bishop Stang will also host its annual Visual Arts Night on Thursday, March 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.
