Marion Town House renovation plans move forward
Feb 19, 2014
Renovations to Marion’s Town House are moving ahead. On Tuesday, Selectmen chose Facilities Manager Shaun Cormier to be the owner’s project manager and asked for Building Committee volunteers.
In Massachusetts, owner’s project managers are required for renovations on municipal property that costs more than $1.5 million.
The facilities manager position is a new one. Cormier was hired last year, in part, because he was qualified to serve as a project manager.
In the meantime, Town Administrator Paul Dawson urged Selectmen to advertise and then recruit qualified people to serve on the Building Committee. “We are a long way from shovels in the ground, but the Building Committee oversees the process from beginning to end,” Dawson said.
