MARION — The opening of the Benson Brook Transfer Station in Marion will be delayed until mid-January, the town announced in a Dec. 23 press release.

Officials said converting the transfer station operation from Carver-Marion-Wareham Regional Refuse Disposal District to Marion will require more time than initially planned.

CMWRRDD will continue to operate the Benson Brook Transfer Station until Dec. 30, 2020.  The removal of CMWRRDD equipment and the installation of the new equipment has been impacted by the holiday season, covid-19 restrictions, equipment availability and electrical modifications for the new compactor.
