Marion Village restaurant granted alcohol license
Selectmen approved an all alcohol license for Kate’s Simple Eats on Tuesday night.
Opened in 2014, the 22-seat cafe serves soups, salads and sandwiches during lunch hours from its location at 146 Front St.
Owner Kate Ross told Selectmen she intended to open the restaurant as late as 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights and would serve beer and wine.
Ross said she intended to gauge customer's response before considering opening late on other nights.
“We will move into it and see what the need is and what the demand is,” Ross said. “We’ll get the feedback from the town and see how it goes.”
In response to a question from Selectmen Chair Stephen Cushing, Ross said she was working to get the proper certification from the state for the two to three employees who would be serving alcohol out of a staff of eight.
“We want you to succeed,” said Selectman Jody Dickerson.
