Marion woman, Rochester man arrested on drug charges

Two local residents were arrested by the Marion Police Department on charges of marijuana possession on Tuesday, June 12.

Shortly after 5 p.m. officers Kris Smith and Shawn Costa stopped a gray 2002 Honda Civic for speeding on Front Street, according to police reports.

The vehicle was operated by 18-year-old Rachael Silvestri, of Marion.

During the traffic stop, the officers observed a large quantity of marijuana in the vehicle, according to reports.

A K-9 from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department assisted the officers with the search for additional drugs.

The passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Phong Tieu of Rochester was arrested and charged with possessing class D drugs over one ounce, and possession of class D with the intent to distribute.

The marijuana, a scale, packaging materials and $1,900 in cash were seized by police.

The marijuana has an estimated street value of $7,000, according to police reports.

The vehicle was impounded by Marion Police. Silvestri will be summonsed to court on related drug charges.
