Mattapoisett athlete moving up in free throw competition

Jan 21, 2019

WAREHAM — Mattapoisett’s Brady Lee is one of five contestants in the Knights of Columbus Free throw Championship who will move on to the regional competition in March.

Lee made 17 of 25 free throws that he tried on Jan. 20 at the Gleason Family YMCA, coming in just behind the 18 baskets that the top scorer, Ajay Lopes, made. This put him at the head of his age group in the Wareham district. Other contestants that will head to the next round include Romeo Trezon, 9, of Onset; Brett McNamara, 10, of Onset and Amare Rose, 11, of Wareham.

The next round of the competition will take place March 16 at Sacred Heart High School in Kingston. Contestants who advance from that round may go on to finals at Boston College.
