Mattapoisett beach house needs ‘TLC’

Jan 23, 2013

Improvements in Mattapoisett continue as Town Administrator Mike Gagne works to get several projects completed before the summer crowds return.

Gagne said the Town Beach house is being evaluated to see what repairs are needed and how much it will cost.

“I’ve got to tell you, the beach house needs a lot of work,” Gagne told Selectmen on Tuesday.

In addition to making the bathrooms handicap accessible, Gagne said the side of the building facing the ocean needs some “TLC.”

“We might be looking at that project in components,” he said.

Other improvements to the town’s recreational areas include a new roof on the gazebo at Shipyard Park and making the bathrooms there handicap accessible.

Gagne said he is also speaking with  the Lions Club about adding a new shade shelter at Veteran’s Park.
