Mattapoisett builds up summer reading post-pandemic

Jun 27, 2022

MATTAPOISETT – Mattapoisett’s summer reading program kicked off with lawn games and ice cream, and will end with a talent show.

Children, teens, and adults could pick up a summer reading bingo board, which allows them to earn raffle tickets for different prizes.

“We’ve been building [summer reading programs] back up since the pandemic,” said library director Jennifer Jones.

She said that there would still be a “hybrid” mix of programs, with some online and some in person, but there would be a lot more in person this year.

Jones said that there will be programs available for adults as well, particularly ones that involve crafting, and that among the offerings for teens, they would soon be bringing goat yoga to the library.

The goat yoga class, which allows teens to practice yoga while interacting with the animals, will take place Thursday, July 8, for teens only and has limited sign-ups available.

To close out a summer of fun programming, the library will host a talent show for all ages on Aug. 20. Sign-ups are available now for those who are already planning their acts.
