Mattapoisett has some tree news!

April 28 will be the town’s ninth Arbor Day as a designated Tree City USA.

“We will be starting on our tenth year of Tree City USA,” said Tree Committee Chair Sandy Hering. “The committee is really excited about that.”

She also requested that selectmen approve a staked plaque be approved for a tree donated by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club that was planted at Town Hall last Arbor Day. The plaque will commemorate the club’s 75-year Diamond Jubilee anniversary.

Selectmen approved the plaque contingent on Highway Surveyor Barry Denham’s OK, since his department landscapes the property.
