Mattapoisett Conservation Commission endorses new conservation agent

Jul 24, 2012

Citing her many years of experience, the Mattapoisett Conservation Commission selected resident Elizabeth Leidhold as the new Conservation Agent for the town.

Although Leidhold’s appointment will have to be approved by the Board of Selectmen, the commission members unanimously supported her for the job left vacant, following the departure of former agent Rene Drouin.

“I don’t think we will have any complications with the Selectmen on this,” said Chair Peter Newton.

Leidhold served on the town’s Conservation Commission in the early 1990’s, and currently serves as the part-time Conservation Agent for the town of Mansfield.

If she was appointed in Mattapoisett, Leidhold said she would be able to continue to work for Mansfield.

Leidhold also serves on the Mattapoisett River Valley Commission.

Given the number of public hearings that the commission is currently evaluating, Newton said it would be best for Leidhold to start as soon as possible.

Newton said he would submit the commission’s endorsement of Leidhold to the Selectmen and to Town Administrator Mike Gagne this week.
