The Mattapoisett Cultural Council is accepting grant applications as part of the state's Local Cultural Council Program.

The program is looking for applicants who use their talents to engage the thoughts and emotions of their audience.

Priority is given to projects that:

1.Reflect an encouragement of regional arts, artists, and/or the humanities.

2. Promote community building by clearly involving other people, groups and organizations within the Mattapoisett community.

3. Interpretive Sciences projects ("...engage people of all ages in learning about nature, science, and technology in ways that explain how they relate to people’s lives.".)

Past grant recipients include the Friends of Old Rochester Drama, the Mattapoisett Lions Club and ORCTV.

Applications are due October 15 and are available at http://www.mass-culture.org/Mattapoisett.
