Mattapoisett election results
There were no contested races in Mattapoisett's election on Tuesday, but voters did approve a question that provides funding for the town's fifth phase of road improvements.
At Town Meeting, voters approved the $650,000 in road upgrades. The ballot question allows for a debt exclusion to pay for the upgrades.
The debt exclusion is a temporary tax increase above Proposition 2 1/2. Due to debt that is retiring this year, the town will not see a rise in tax payments as a result of the question. The question passed with 126 "yes" votes versus 50 "no" votes.
In the uncontested elections, incumbent Selectman Paul Silva received 156 votes, incumbent James Muse received 158 votes for Mattapoisett School Committee and Leonard Coppola received 161 votes for assessor.
For two seats on trustee of public library, William Asci and Amy Lignitz-Harken received 156 and 142 votes, respectively. John Ecklund took 166 votes for moderator and Albert Mennino Jr. received 155 votes for water and sewer commissioner. Highway Surveyor Barry Denham took 173 to hold on to his position. Residents gave Russell Bailey 155 votes and Kenneth Dawicki 163 votes for two seats on the Board of Health.
Newcomer Nathan Ketchel got 150 votes for an open seat on the Planning Board.
Suzanne Kennedy received 154 votes for a two-year term to fill a vacancy on the Mattapoisett Housing Authority.
For two seats on the Community Preservation Society, William Hall and Michelle Hughes took 158 and 162 votes, respectively.
