The Mattapoisett Historical Society's annual Labor Day weekend lecture will take place on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Shipyard Park.

This year, historian Seth Mendell will speak on "Captain Charles Bryant: From Alaska to the Bayview Hotel." Bryant was a whaling master who was instrumental in the purchase of Alaska and in later life was the proprietor of Mattapoisett's Bayview Hotel.

In case of rain, meet at the Mattapoisett Historical Society Museum at 5 Church Street. A $5 donation is suggested.
