MATTAPOISETT — On Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m., go on a field trip with the Mattapoisett Land Trust to learn about vernal pools, a breeding ground for amphibians and other invertebrates.

Attendees will complete field work for the pool to be certified through the Commonwealth’s Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program. Learning about the certification process will also give parents and children the opportunity to learn about Mattapoisett’s wetlands.

The event is free and open to everyone, including residents from other towns. The group will be meeting at the Mattapoisett Land Trust on Prospect Road located 0.4 miles south of Route 6. People are advised to wear appropriate clothing including rubber boots. The trip will happen rain or shine.
