Mattapoisett Library celebrates a birthday
Bring on the cake!
On Saturday afternoon, the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library hosted a birthday party celebrating the fifth anniversary of the building's grand reopening following extensive renovations in 2008.
“Each year a lot of children come by,” said library Director Susan Pizzolato. “The kids and their families look forward to it, and we appreciate the Friends bringing in new entertainment for the kids.”
This year, the Friends brought in Blossom the Clown to entertain with jokes and tricks, including one trick that made a rabbit magically appear before the group of very excited kids.
While the kids made a beeline to pet the rabbit, the Friends cut the cake.
Jessica Noblet, one of the Friends, helps organize the annual event. Noblet also takes on the tough task of selecting a new act to entertain the children.
“Last year we had someone come who made a lighthouse out of balloons," she said. "This year it’s a little tough with it being Easter, but the kids seem to love it.”
