Jan 12, 2020

MATTAPOISETT — The Free Public Library will offer a chance to learn some friendly greetings and conversational phrases in other languages throughout the month of February. Community members will share some basics from their native languages in a casual informal setting.

There will be one class for each language, with the low–pressure sessions lasting thirty minutes. Participants will and leave with a list of words and phrases to practice and try them out with neighbors or on travels.

This will be an ongoing program with more languages to come.

A native Japanese speaker will be at the library on Sunday, Feb. 2 from 1 to 1:30 p.m. A Spanish session will take place on Feb. 2 from 2 to 2:30 p.m.

The library will host a Chinese speaker on Wednesday, Feb 12 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Four days later, a Portuguese speaker will host their first session from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

Finally, a French speaker will offer the chance to learn a few French phrases on Sunday, Feb 23 from 1 to 1:30 p.m.
