Mattapoisett Library offering free books

May 27, 2020

MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Library is giving away free book bundles  each weekday.

The book bundles contain books, puzzles and DVDs in related genres or topics from the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library, which gave the staff the okay to sort and offer book sale donations, since sales have been postponed.

Bags of books for adults, teens, students, and very young patrons are lined up along the sidewalks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The bags also contain information from the Center for Disease Control on staying safe and an envelope addressed to the Friends, should the recipient wish to make a donation.

“The response was immediate,” reported library Director Susan Pizzolato. “From my office window, I could see families and individuals driving up and helping themselves to a bag. People are very appreciative.”

The Book Bundle giveaway will continue at least until curbside delivery begins in several weeks.  The library encourages all patrons to observe social distancing and to wear a face covering.
