The annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held on Monday, May 28 on the Mattapoisett Library Grounds at 1:30 p.m. The principal speaker will be James Holmes, Associate Professor of Strategy at the Newport Naval War College.

Memorial Day participants include: the Old Hammondtown Band, State Representative William Straus, Veterans Agent Barry Denham, Mattapoisett Board of Selectmen and New Bedford JROTC.

Mary Kate McIntyre, ORR Jr. High student will deliver the Gettysburg Address.

After the ceremony, members of the Legion will place wreaths on the War Memorials. Marchers will assemble and the parade will commence. In case of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled, and the ceremony will take place inside Center School.
