Mattapoisett Museum announces new curator
The Mattapoisett Museum is getting a new curator following the September retirement announcement by curator Bette Roberts.
Resident Elizabeth Hutchinson will take the reigns at the end of January.
Hutchinson has worn many hats in the historical world, including service at the South Street Seaport Museum in New York City, the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts.
She also is a certified teacher, having taught at the Wheeler School in Providence. Hutchinson is a 1997 graduate of Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in education from Fordham as well.
"The museum is fortunate to have someone whose resume includes history, teaching and museum experience," said Historical Society President Seth Mendell. "We all look forward to working with her as the museum fulfills its mission of preserving the past for the benefit of the future."
