Mattapoisett Recreation winter programs
Mattapoisett Recreation is offering the following winter programs. To sign up for any of the following programs, visit www.mattrec.net or download a registration form from the website and drop it off at Mattapoisett Town Hall.
Gymnastics and tumbling: Session 3
Bay State Gymnastics Academy will hold a winter session of gymnastics and tumbling classes for beginners and more experienced students on Fridays from Feb. 5 to April. 8 at Old Hammondtown School gymnasium.
Ages 5 and up are welcome to register for the one-hour sessions that begin at 3:15 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
Instructors will work individually with each gymnast on all four gymnastic events: floor tumbling, balance beam, bars and vaulting.
Tumbling classes are designed for any gymnast or cheerleader interested in working solely on their floor tumbling skills.
The eight-week session costs $140. Registration is open Jan. 11 through 29.
Yoga
Certified yoga instructor Lynda Jacobvitz will teach children age appropriate yoga poses, basic stretching exercises and creative movement to promote strength, flexibility and coordination.
Breathing and visualization techniques will teach kids how to focus, relax, develop self control and improve concentration.
The eight-week session will be held on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m., March 1 to April 26, at the Center School gym.
The class if for ages 6 to 10 and costs $80. The deadline to register is Feb. 25.
Candy making workshop
Kids in grades 2 to 6 may participate in a candy making workshop with Maria Lynch. Each session will have a different theme: gifts for your Valentine, spring sweets and Mother’s Day delights.
Participants will make candy items to bring home. All supplies will be provided. The four-week workshop will be Wednesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 3, March 16, April 13 and May 4 at the Center School cafeteria.
The cost is $50. Registration is due by Jan. 27.
Crafting: Creation Imagination
Creation Imagination is for kids in grades kindergarten through third grade. Each week a specific theme will be introduced and supplies provided. Children will use their imagination to bring their own creation to life. Instructor Maria Lynch will lead the eight sessions to be held on Thursdays from 2:45 to 4 p.m. at the Center School cafeteria. Classes ill be Jan. 14 to March 17 (no class Feb. 18 or March 10.)
