Mattapoisett School Committee approves budget

Apr 15, 2015

On Monday, the Mattapoisett School Committee approved a $6,385,751 budget for the coming year.

The budget reflects a 2.96 percent increase over the current budget, as a result of the town’s request to limit growth to 2.9 percent. The budget is $183,803 up from the 2014-15 budget and uses $165,000 from the circuit breaker fund, a contingency fund to help with fluctuating special education costs.

A request from Chair James Higgins to add a new teacher, due to large numbers expected in the kindergarten class, was not added due to constraints.

The committee unanimously approved the budget.
