Mattapoisett shifts down to yellow on state covid map

Oct 29, 2020

Mattapoisett recovered to yellow status on the state covid map after a week as a red community.

The state covid map color codes municipalities by their incidence rate, or rate of cases per capita over a two week period. Red communities have the most cases (at least eight per 100,000), Yellow have fewer cases (from five to seven per 100,000), and gray communities have less than five cases per 100,000. For communities with populations lower than 100,000, cases are scaled relative to the size of the community.

471 Mattapoisett residents were tested over the last two weeks, with six positive results.

Both Marion and Rochester remained in their designations from last week’s data.

Rochester remained in the red, though state data shows that cases are on the decline.

366 Rochester residents were tested over the last two weeks, and seven tests came back positive.

Marion remained designated as a gray community, with no relative change in case count.

1,011 Marion residents were tested in the last two weeks, and two tests came back positive.

State covid data is released every Thursday by 6 p.m.
