Mattapoisett Town Clerk candidate Erika Suzan Osetkowski

If elected to the town clerk’s office, Mattapoisett native Erika Suzan Osetkowski would be the third generation in her family to serve for the town.

Osetkowski, whose father is a retired police office and grandfather was a Selectman, said working for the town has always been an interest.

“I love working with the people of the town. I’m excited to take the challenge on,” she said.

Osetkowski holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Westfield State College and currently works as a bank teller manager with Eastern Bank in Mattapoisett. She has two young daughters with husband Brett Osetkowski, a Mattapoisett policeman.

In her current position, Osetkowski said she has a good rapport with the employees who work under her and the customers who come into the bank.

She plans to keep that same good will going if elected as town clerk.

Ostekowski said, like current Town Clerk Barbara Sullivan, she would strive to keep a welcoming “open office” atmosphere.

“I’m a great people person and that’s really important in that office,” she said.

The Old Rochester Regional graduate said one part of the town clerk position she looks forward to is elections and encouraging resident participation. She has already become a notary public in anticipation of the job.

Osetkowski has been getting her name out into the community through candidate functions and said she has gotten a lot of support.

Said Osetkowski, “I’m ready for election day.”
