Mattapoisett Tree Committee hoists the flag for Arbor Day

Mattapoisett has been a designated Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for many years, and on Friday the Tree Committee raised a flag showing that achievement at Town Hall.
In honor of Arbor Day, the Mattapoisett Woman's Club donated a Japanese Stewartia to be planted outside Town Hall. The tree is to honor the 75th anniversary of the club, which will be celebrated this year. It will replace a tree that was removed from the site last year.
The tree, which will have white flowers and could reach 25 feet, was present on Friday but will not be planted until next week.
