The Mattapoisett Library and dance educator Kay Alden will host a Maypole celebration on Saturday, May 2 from 10:30 to noon.

Ages 4 to 6 will dance from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and ages 7 to 10 from 11:15 to noon.

Alden will present a brief history of the maypole and explain the traditional dance steps to help kids make a maypole of intertwined ribbons.

Adults will be encouraged to participate along with their children.
