National Night Out, Country Fair face changes because of mosquitoes

Aug 6, 2019

Both the National Night Out and the Rochester Country Fair are adjusting their schedules because all three towns are currently classified as “high risk” for Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

National Night Out will begin at Old Rochester Regional High School at 4:30 p.m. and conclude at 7 p.m.

The Rochester Country Fair has posted a notice to its Facebook page that it will consolidate certain events to the day time hours of Saturday and Sunday only. All evening events will be cancelled. Antique Tractor Pulls will take place on Saturday, and the fair organizers will update the schedule for the rest of the fair events as soon as they can on Tuesday.

Boards of Health in all three towns have also advised residents to avoid being outside during peak mosquito hours (dusk to dawn) wear insect repellant or long sleeves and pants.
