New Marion donation sends a message

MARION — The town wants to get the message out: A new board has been installed that features community notices.

The board was officially unveiled on Monday, April 4, at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center on Mill Street.

William “Stan’’ Bradford of W.S. Bradford Company, a private construction business in Marion, donated the structure.

“I just wanted to do something for the Council on Aging, so I reached out,” Bradford said. He spoke to Harry Norweb of the council, who was all for making it happen and helped coordinate the installation.

While Bradford built the board at no cost to the town, the materials were paid for by the Friends of Marion Recreation.

Norweb said that the board could be used for a variety of things, such as posting town announcements and notices of upcoming events.

The board already features a flier for the hours at the Marion Food Pantry, an advertisement for free Easter hams from Tabor Academy, and a list of senior and community programs.

“We are grateful Stan donated his time for this,” said Town Administrator Jay McGrail.
