New Rochester town administrator named

The Rochester Board of Selectmen announced Suzanne Szyndlar as the new town administrator at the Selectmen’s meeting on Monday night.

Szyndlar will start July 1 as the CFO/town administrator after finishing her time as an accountant for the town of Mattapoisett. She will be full time and start on a six-month trial basis, but Selectman Naida Parker said the board hopes she will continue on well beyond the six months.

The Selectmen believe Szyndlar will be an asset to the town, as she has experience and certifications as an assessor and treasurer. She has been a Mattapoisett employee since 2000, and will be the first woman town administrator.

The Selectmen said the decision was mutual, with them expressing interest and then convincing her to do it.

"But I think she's getting excited about it," Parker said.

Szyndlar will be replacing former town administrator Mike McCue, who resigned from the job in April and left on May 6 to take the same position in Hanson. He resigned to work closer to his family and for a higher salary.
