New singers welcomed for South Coast Children’s Chorus

MARION — The South Coast Children’s Chorus is welcoming new singers for its upcoming season.
The chorus is open to students from first to 12th grade. New singers will be accepted at the first three rehearsals, which take place at Tabor Academy’s Fireman Center for the Performing Arts, 245 Front St. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for the preparatory chorus and 5:30 to 7 p.m. for the advanced chorus.
The first rehearsal is Tuesday, Sept. 17. Rehearsals run from September to December and late February to June.
There were over 75 singers from 10 different South Coast cities and towns across 30 different schools last season, according to a press release.
Tuition is $125, and free or reduced tuition is available. To register, visit singsouthcoast.org.
The mission of the chorus is “to provide a joyful, educational choral experience for young singers, helping them to develop responsibility, confidence, musicianship, and a passion for excellence in all they do,” the press release said.
The South Coast Children’s Chorus performs throughout the South Coast with musicians such as the New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Singers and the African Children’s Choir at venues like the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, AHA! Night and Fenway Park, according to the press release.
