New Tri-Town covid cases decrease after peaking last week

Sep 9, 2021

After seeing the largest spike of the summer last week with 30 cases, the Tri-Town had only 19 new cases of covid in the week leading up to Sept. 9 — the fewest in a single week since late July.

Of the 19 new cases, five came from Marion, six from Mattapoisett and eight from Rochester, according to state covid data.

Vaccination rates increased uniformly across Marion and Mattapoisett during the week, but held steady in Rochester.

In Marion and Mattapoisett, both the fully-vaccinated and single-dose rates increased by 1% meaning that both towns now have 78% of their populations fully vaccinated and 86% with at least one shot.

Rochester’s vaccination rates remained the same from last week with 59% fully vaccinated and 65% with at least one shot.

State covid data is released every Thursday.
