Night of Jazz shows the style’s diversity

As part of the F.O.R.M. (Friends of Old Rochester Music) Concert series, the musicians of the Junior High School Jazz Band, High School Chorus, High School Jazz Band performed a program drawing on a broad range of styles from jazz to traditional folk songs to Broadway tunes. 

The JHS Instrumental Music program is directed by Richard Laprise. The ORRHS Jazz Band and Chorus are directed by Mike Barnicle and on this occasion, Mr. Barnicle's toddler son, Johann was present to assist onstage and off.

Soloists from each school were featured during the evening's selections.

F.O.R.M. President, Kathleen Kvilhaug spoke briefly about volunteer opportunities and the ORR music programs' most recent distinction. The program was recently recognized by the National Association for Music Merchants for Outstanding Support of Music Education.

Audience members were also able to admire the awards won by ORRHS during the recent trip to Nashville, Tennessee.
