Observe Holy Week with Mattapoisett church
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Congregational Church will host several events to commemorate “Holy Week,” the last week of Jesus’ earthly life. Holy Week starts on Palm Sunday, April 2 and runs through Easter Sunday, April 9. These events will feature music, story and scripture.
At 10 a.m. on Palm Sunday, April 2 the church will “wave [their] palm fronds high” as they recall Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.
Then on Good Friday, April 7, the church will open its sanctuary for quiet meditation at 6:30 p.m. and will hold a service of meditation on the cross at 7 p.m.
Finally on Easter Sunday, April 9 the church will host a sunrise service at 7 a.m. at the gazebo in Shipyard Park. The service will feature music by church music director Michelle Gordon and guest musician Bob Williamson. The event will also have coffee.
Then at 10 a.m., in the church’s sanctuary, the church will hold a traditional family-friendly service with music by the Mattapoisett Congregational Church Choir and guest musicians Bob Williamson and Kara Lund.
