'Oktopurrfest' raises funds for It's All About the Animals cat shelter
Animal lovers of all stripes attended It’s All About the Animals first ever “Oktopurrfest” held Sunday afternoon.
Pam and Oren Robinson operate the nonprofit cat shelter in Rochester and held the event to raise $30,000 for an addition.
“We’re the only shelter in the area and we’re at capacity,” Pam said. The 20 foot by 16 foot addition would be used to house more animals.
Sunday’s event included raffles and more than 20 vendors from across the South Coast who featured gifts for cats, dogs and their owners.
Many people arrived for the event. With large balloons, face painting, a costume contest and plenty of food, the shelter grounds turned into a small festival for the afternoon.
Near the end of the event, the fundraising effort received a $2,000 check from Janet Marra.
Pam thanked Marra for her generosity.
“Only $28,000 to go!” she said.
