Old Colony boys win tournament
The Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School's boys varsity basketball team has made Cougar history.
The boys defeated South Shore Vocational Technical High School in the State Vocational Small School Tournament 69-54 on Saturday, Feb. 23, for the team's first-ever win in the tournament.
To sum it up, coach Matt Trahan said, "It was wild."
The two teams were neck-in-neck from start to finish. The Number 2 seeded Cougars had home court advantage, and the fans came in droves.
"We had a packed house," Trahan said. "Fans were spilling over to the other side of the court."
When the final buzzer sounded, "you would have thought they won a free trip to Disney World," Trahan said. "It was tremendous effort from every kid on the roster. They're playing their best basketball right now."
Moving on to the State Tournament, the Cougars will face off with Holbrook High School on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
