Old Rochester administrator to leave school district

May 31, 2023

MATTAPOISETT — Old Rochester Regional School District Director of Student Services Craig Davidson will leave the district, announced Superintendent Mike Nelson on Friday, May 26.

Davidson was appointed on May 25 as the new Director of Special Services for the Easton Public Schools. While a departure date has not yet been determined, a transition will be discussed and agreed upon to ensure a smooth transition for both school systems.

"Davidson has provided steady leadership the past three years as our schools navigated pandemic-related challenges that we never expected," said Nelson. "Throughout the challenges and his tenure, I have appreciated Davidson's focus on not only serving our students, but advocating strongly for them."

Davidson has served as the districts' Director of Student Services since August 2020. In his position, Davidson has overseen the Student Services Office, which assists school staff in working with families to meet the unique needs of students through individualized learning programs.

"The Tri-Town community has been very special to me and I have valued the support that the families, community stakeholders and town officials have for their schools," Davidson said. "The quality of educational programming that is offered to our students is a testament to countless hours of hard work, collaboration and inspiration that our dedicated and talented staff members provide to our amazing districts. While the decision to leave this school community is difficult, my new appointment will allow for continued growth both professionally and personally closer to home and family. I wish the school community the best and many years of success to come."

In the coming weeks, Nelson, in consultation with the districts' School Committees, will determine how best to fill the vacancy Davidson's departure will create.

"I understand that this job opportunity makes sense for Davidson and his family and support his decision fully," Nelson said.
