Old Rochester Bulldogs lose quarter finals match against Wareham

Mar 1, 2019

The Old Rochester Bulldogs fell 10 points short on Friday night in a hard-fought quarter finals match against the Wareham Vikings for the state playoffs. The final score was 65-56.

“Our kids played hard,” said Bulldogs Head Coach Steve Carvalho. “Wareham just had too much fire power.”

The Bulldogs trailed their opponents by roughly 10 points for most of the game with the Vikings leading 35-25 by the end of the first half.

The red-blooded Bulldogs were far from giving up, however, and rallied their offense in the third quarter where they tied the score 41-41 with less than two minutes to spare.

While the triumph was ultimately short lived, ORR continued to fight the Vikings tooth and claw on the court into the final seconds of the game.

The Bulldog’s top scorer was Cole McIntyre with a total of 16 points. These included three of the team’s 3-point baskets.

“McIntyre put his heart and soul into this game,” Carvalho said. “Just like he always does.”

Carvalho said the Bulldogs will have their work cut out for them during the off season. The team will graduate five of its players this spring.

“We have a long road ahead of us,” Carvalho said. “But I know these kids will put in the work.”
