Old Rochester drama club to perform ‘Noises Off’ this November

Nov 12, 2024

MATTAPOISETT — The Old Rochester Regional High School Drama Club has announced it will be performing a comedic play later in November.

“Noises Off” will open at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 and continue at the same time to Saturday, Nov. 23. There will also be a Sunday, Nov. 24 performance at 2 p.m.

The play is directed by Brayden Fanti and assistant director Sarah Whinnem. "Noises Off" stars senior Calder Eaton and junior Charlotte Cook.

The show, “a theatrical farce,” was written by Michael Frayn, according to a news release.

“First published in 1982, the play is a behind-the-scenes look at a chaotic stage production populated with frenetic and unstable actors, a volatile director, and an overworked and overly emotional stage crew,” the release said. “Interspersed throughout the typical narrative structure of the piece are scenes from the play-within-a-play the group is performing: a tacky comedy called ‘Nothing On.’”

“Noises Off” is appropriate for all ages but may be more enjoyable for ages 11 and up.

Tickets are $12 for students and seniors and $15 for general admission. Tickets will be available at the door, at the Marion General Store, Isabelle’s in Mattapoisett, or Friends’ Marketplace at Plumb Corner in Rochester.
