Old Rochester Regional rallies for Cranberry Bowl

It was a cheerful scene Friday afternoon for the Bulldog student body: food, fun, and high spirits before meeting the Wareham Vikings for the annual Cranberry Bowl.
Although the Vikings would turn out the victors, the Bulldogs kept their spirits high before and after the football game ended.
School parent and spirit leader, Maureen Bowan gathered her group of volunteers for an event which featured routines from both the cheerleaders and the dance and rhythm team, face painting, car decorating contests and a lot of food.
The food included a burger and hot dog stand donated by the Rochester Lions Club, coffee from Uncle John’s and tables of baked goods provided by friends and families of the students.
The seniors were also challenged to a car decorating contest, showcasing their school spirit and Bulldog pride.
Bowan, a Rochester resident, said that she started planning the rally as a way to raise money for the senior class.
“I saw something similar at my nephew’s school, New Bedford Vocational, and I thought 'Why can’t I bring that to my school?'” she said. “Right now we are just raising money for whatever the kids might need. That might be prom or something else but it’s for the kids.”
Bowan said that she convinced Michael Rock of Fun 107 radio to DJ the rally. Other donations included the large white tent in which most of the activity took place. The $3,000 tent was donated by Chase Canopy of Mattapoisett.
Although the Bulldogs lost 6-14, Bowan said that they had raised about $800 in ticket sales which were selling for $5 a piece at the door.
