Old Rochester serves up Thanksgiving for seniors
Nov 21, 2011
Nearly 100 Old Rochester Regional Junior High School students served Thanksgiving dinner for local senior citizens Nov. 20.
According to Principal Kevin Brogioli, this is the 21st annual holiday dinner served in the school's cafeteria. Most of the 100 students, he said, were in grade eight.
Organizers for the event have been collecting donations for the past month, and according to organizer and special education teacher for the Junior High School, Hope Perkins, the gifts have been generous.
"We've seen more people giving checks, teachers donating pies and small businesses giving," Perkins said. "It goes to show how generous people are especially in this economy."
