Old Rochester shares conference title after 77-58 loss

Feb 20, 2017

A win on Sunday would have given Old Rochester Regional the South Coast Conference title outright. However, a 77-58 loss to rival Wareham means the team must settle for a piece of the title.

The win gave a piece of the South Coast Conference title to four teams – Apponequet, Bourne, Old Rochester and Wareham. All teams ended the regular season with 12-4 conference records.

During Sunday’s game, the Bulldogs had a pitched battle with Wareham in the first half, ending the second quarter with Wareham in the lead, 37-34.

While Old Rochester had a significant size advantage, Wareham relied on speed and wore down the Bulldogs.

Old Rochester high scorers for the game were Jason Gamache (13 points); Russell Noonan (11 points); and Matthew Valles (8 points).

The Bulldogs will head to the Division 3 state tournament, the first game’s time and location to be announced.
