Old Rochester wraps up homecoming week
More than 500 students filed out of Old Rochester Regional High School Saturday, Oct. 22, worn out after an entire week of Homecoming celebrations. The seven-day soiree was capped off with the celebrated Homecoming Dance, which students saw as a fitting end to a busy week.
The merriment started Monday, as students arrived at ORR clad in neon clothes. This was the first of five “Spirit Days” that spanned the week. Spirit Days have students dressing up according to that day's theme, showing their school spirit in the process.
Tuesday saw “Nerd Day”, a good-humored salute to the cliche of the suspender-and-wide-rimmed-glasses-wearing student. Wednesday's “Wild West Day” arrived with bandanas and plaid shirts, and a Thursday's “Harry Potter Day” adorned with wands and robes galore. Friday, students dressed in one of ORR's school colors, according to class.
Friday also held the school's yearly pep rally, with each class competing in the traditional skit competition, for which members from each class had spent a few weeks preparing. Each class based their skit on some well known movie or television show, adapting each to show their school spirit.
The Freshman class gave their take on television show Phineas and Ferb, the Sophomores took inspiration from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and the Juniors adapted Back to the Future. While each class received positive comments from the judges, the 2012 Senior class and their Wizard of Oz skit ended victorious.
That night, in a triumphant end to the school week, the Old Rochester Bulldogs ended their homecoming game against Fairhaven in a 14-12 win.
Finally, Saturday's dance ended another exciting Homecoming week for ORR.
