ORR administrator passed over for Wareham superintendent job

An Old Rochester Regional School District administrator will not be heading to Wareham Public Schools.

Dr. Elise Frangos, assistant superintendent curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the district, was one of three finalists in Wareham Public Schools’ search for a new superintendent.

Frangos said she applied because she was well qualified for the position and was prepared to guide the district.

“I have the character, intelligence, and vision to lead a school district to academic excellence,” she said. “While I would have loved the challenge of transforming the Wareham schools…they sought a different kind of individual.”

The Wareham School Committee voted on May 28 to enter into contract negotiations with Kimberly Shaver-Hood, who currently serves as superintendent in the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District. Frangos was the runner-up.

“I wish the Wareham schools, especially the children, all the best because kids only go through these precious school years but once. My hope was to maximize their opportunities,” she said.

Frangos noted she is proud of her accomplishments at ORR.

“I’m very pleased to continue my work here in Old Rochester Regional Schools,” she said. “The work here is meaningful and it’s a privilege to work with the staff.”
