ORR and Old Colony students take home top honors in Titan Challenge
Old Rochester Regional High School and Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School students participated in the first annual Junior Achievement Titan Challenge at UMass Dartmouth on March 20.
The Junior Achievement Titan Challenge is a business strategy competition in which high school students spend the day at the UMass Dartmouth and compete against one another in teams using an online, interactive business simulation game.
ORR students Zach Bowen, Kiernan Besse and Jeremy Bare took home the first place win with help from business mentor Bill Beauchene of BankFive and school coordinator Erich Carroll.
The students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Old Colony's Cougars 12 team took home the second place and $750 scholarships. All juniors and Computer Information Systems majors, the team consisted of Jason Bechtold, Mackenzie Chabot and Chad Underhill.
Also participating were CIS juniors Amber Csorba, Travis Ouellette and Alyson Wohler.
“There were 48 teams competing in the business skills event and our two teams did an amazing job,” said CIS instructor Ryan Robidoux.
Thirteen schools from Southeastern Massachusetts participated in the event.
