Patriotism with a fun twist at Marion Fourth of July Parade

Jul 4, 2017

Participants in Marion's annual Fourth of July parade boasted patriotism, candy, and the occasional zany twist.

There were over 80 entrants in the parade, including several papier-mache eagles from the Sippican Lands Trust, a row of pristine, expertly-restored antique Farmall tractors from Cantaweevit Farm in West Wareham, a miniature version of the Harbormaster's truck (along with several mini-Harbormasters), and of course several patriotic antique cars.

A crowd favorite was the Ford driven by the Mackenzie family, who dubbed their display the "Tribute to Adam West." Despite the heat, which must have felt even stronger under the famous cowl, Batman jogged behind the car as the Joker and Batgirl waved from inside.

Other crowd favorites included a ship display from Cape Cod Shipbuilding, a (what else) candy-filled truck from Patrick's Candy Pantry in Mattapoisett, and the float honoring World War II veterans.
