Pianist to combine lecture and concert

Concert pianist Leslie Amper will combine lecture and concert in her program "Creativity in Hard Times: The Federal Music Project of the 1930s" on Sunday. April 7 at 2 p.m. as part of the One Book, Tri-Town series offered by the public libraries of Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester.
 
The concert will take place in Hoyt Hall at Tabor Academy. The program highlights American musicians supported by the Works Progress Administration through live performance, paired with historic recordings and images. Featured composers include William Grant Still, Amy Beach, Henry Cowell, Roger Sessions, Ernest Bloch, and Aaron Copeland.
 
Amper has traveled the nation with her piano recital and multi media lecture, performing at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Plymouth State University, Wheaton College, Carnegie Mellon University, the Seacoast Academy of Music and Chautauqua Institution.
 
This free concert is sponsored by the Mattapoisett Library Trust. Hoyt Hall is located at the Tabor Academy campus on Front Street in Marion.
