The following are the June selections for Plumb Library's June book clubs.

Nonfiction book club
'Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant? A Memoir' by Roz Chast is the Plumb Library nonfiction book club's June selection.

Everyone going through the 'parent problem' can find something to sympathize with in Chast's book.

In her first memoir, Chast brings her signature wit to the topic of aging parents. Spanning the last several years of their lives and told through color cartoons, family photos and documents, and a narrative as rife with laughs as it is with tears, Chast's memoir is both comfort and comic relief for anyone experiencing the life-altering loss of elderly parents.

A New York Times bestseller, this book has won a number of awards.

Copies are available at the Plumb Library front desk.

The discussion will be Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Café Parlez Fiction Book Club
The Café Parlez selection for June is “Arthur and George”, by Julian Barnes. Set at the turn of the 20th century, this story follows the separate but intersecting live of two very different British men: George Edalji, a half-Indian solicitor and son of a vicar, and the world-famous author Arthur Conan Doyle.

One-third of the book covers George’s trial, conviction and imprisonment for a crime he did not commit. A second third follows Arthur’s life and relationships. And the last third covers Doyle’s attempt to clear Edalji’s name and uncover the true culprit of the crime. We will discuss this novel on Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m.
