Plumb Library July book club selections

Jul 2, 2015

Plumb Library's Just the Facts nonfiction book group will meet on July 16 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss "Eighty Days: Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World" by Matthew Goodman.

The book follows two women, one traveling by steamship, one by train, determined to outdo Jules Verne's fictional hero Phineas Fogg and circle the world in less than 80 days.

The Cafe Parlez fiction book club will discuss "Benjamin Franklin's Bastard" by Sally Cabot on July 30 at 6:30 p.m.

Born to a 16-year-old servant and with Benjamin Franklin as his father, William grows up with the Franklins but with his birth mother always watching over him in secret. As an adult, he becomes Royal Governor of New Jersey, but when the colonies begin their fight for independence, he is torn between his allegiance to the monarchy and his father.

Copies of both books are available at the library desk.
