Plumb Library kicks off holiday season

Dec 3, 2016

The Friends of Plumb Library welcomed families for the annual Holiday Fair on Saturday.

Inside the library there were raffles, baked treats, the Rochester Historical Society and even an appearance from Santa himself.

The Holiday Fair acts not only as the unofficial kickoff into the holiday season but also as a fundraiser for the library.

“All the funds go back to the [Friends of Plumb Library] which pays for any programs we have,” Children's Librarian Lisa Fuller said.

There were donated gift baskets that people could bid on, as well as a raffle for gift cards from local businesses. New this year was an Avon representative selling beauty products and a representative selling essential oils.

“I think people liked that because it's something they could purchase and take home today,” Fuller said.

The Junior Friends also pitched in a helping hand.

“I helped greet people, passed out goody bags, helped watch little kids and I helped the oil people pack up,” Junior Friend Sophia Cruz said. “I liked watching the little kids because there was this one little boy who was so cute.”
