Property sales to go towards road improvements

Mar 12, 2014

Last week’s sale of 11 town-owned properties netted $323,000 and that will all go towards road improvements.

Town Administrator Mike Gagne said some of the money may be used to help fund a road survey that is needed for improvements to Main Street, Water Street, Beacon Street and Marion Road.

Officials from the state’s Department of Transportation recently visited the town to look at the roads. Gagne said the long-term project to restore the four roads has already made it onto the Transportation Improvement Plan for South Eastern Massachusetts.

The survey will show the layout of the roads and provide a baseline for the plan, said Gagne.

Highway Surveyor Barry Denham will discuss upcoming roadwork at the March 25 Selectmen’s meeting.
